Aiming to confront totally and effectively, the matters and requirements concerning the maintenance of TR insulating oils and insulating papers, to reduce actively the oil changes and prolong as far as possible the time of active service of the TR, we studied and applied, by constructing a device which we named CRD. Applying this technique, we achieve:
- Reduction of oil moisture.
- Considerable improvement of its breakdown voltage and reduction of the value deviations.
- Improvement of its interfacial tension.
- Considerable reduction of the oil acidity.
- Reduction of the moisture of insulating papers
- Considerable reduction of suspended particles in the oil.
- Considerable reduction of precipitates and sludge of the oil.
This improvement is accomplished, via the effective removal of moisture, precipitates and dissolved – suspended contaminants of the oil, which resupplied continuously to the TR, dry and clean, acts as a drying and cleaning medium for the solid insulants (mainly winding papers).
It is a technique of long term application, without any need to interrupt the TR function. The apparatus is fully coded, and among other characteristics, they have colour code for the distinction between the cylinders, so that their successive use in different TR’s be possible by partial change, if this is allowed by the oil and paper condition, knowing simultaneously their history of use.
The efficacy of the device is followed up by a series of tests, specially selected and concerning directly the application, at its different phases. These tests, customary concern the parameters : Colour, Breakdown Voltage, Water Content, Acid Number, Interfacial Tension, Particle Count. Yet, in case of first application, we advise PCBs and Corossive Sulfur test, for reasons of protection of the apparatus and of the next TRs to be processed, as well.
The device is considered to be free of maintenance, as the only action needed for its function, is a change of the filtrating material, whenever this is thought to be necessary. All the consumable materials and spare parts (if needed), are available from our company. Also every part of the devise is fully covered of warranty for the first 3 years of operation.
Furthermore, the application of this technique, is advisory supported by our company, as for the selection and priority of the TRs to be processed, and as for the time necessary for every TR.
